The Immigrant Attitude: Why Foreigners Succeed in America

History has shown that legal immigrants to America have always succeeded at living and experiencing a better life than that which they had before they came to the country. No sooner does an immigrant breathe American air than he forms new schemes and embarks on designs he never would have thought of in his country. In some instances, legal immigrants have even proceeded to live better lives than those of born Americans. What is it that enables them to do so? What qualities do they embody which propel them towards success in life? This speech endeavors to uncover the reasons for this. The audience will learn that life rewards people based on their ABCs – attitudes, beliefs and commitment.

No Paths in the Bush: Breakthrough thoughts from the African Jungle

Today’s complex and ever-changing world needs visionaries more than ever before. No arena trains a visionary better than life in a jungle. Having lived in the Africa rainforests for most of his life, Herman outlines how vision can secure new frontiers for leaders and enable them to navigate chaos and complexities. He borrows heavily from David Livingstone, the pioneer explorer and missionary to Africa who once said, “If you have men who will only come if they know there is a good road, I don’t want them. I want men who will come if there is no road at all.” No Paths in the Bush is designed to bring breakthroughs and transformations to individuals and organizations.

From the Village to the City: Managing Change, Handling People and Developing Strategies that Work

As a young boy Herman was taken from the villages of Western Kenya and brought to the city of Nairobi for his schooling. Herman had to learn that he could not thrive in the city with the village mentality still inside him. Change had to start from the inside. We will all be called to change at one point or another since in a world that is constantly in flux, change is the only constant. Accepting change and knowing how to flow with it are skills that we must perfect. When we adopt to change and act proactively on new circumstances, we gain a sense of power and create opportunities for growth. By taking responsibility we gain the sanity that enables us to navigate change and develop strategies that empower our organizations and those around us.
