The Joy of Self-Discipline

Filed under: Herman's Thoughts, Empowerment — Herman Najoli @ 7:35 am

Nothing makes life more fun than discipline. The surprising thing though is that most of us hate discipline. Discipline has become a negative thing in many people’s lives because they associate discipline with punishment. There’s much more to discipline than punishment. Discipline, more so self-discipline, is about enjoyment more than it is about punishment. Discipline yourself to do what you know you need to do to be the very best in your field and you will find that you will happier and more excited about life than the average Joe (or Jane).

Perhaps what’s needed is a redefinition of discipline. My definition of self discipline is this: “Self discipline is the ability to make yourself do what you should do when you should do it, whether you feel like it or not, with the ultimate result of greater success and happiness in life.” It is easy to do something when you feel like it. I mean, every day we are doing things that we feel like doing. It’s when you don’t feel like it and you force yourself to do it anyway that you really set yourself up for lasting success and happiness in life. Doing the things that you feel like doing will give you short term success and happiness. It is when you discipline yourself to do the things that you don’t feel like doing that you secure long-term happiness. Learn to discipline yourself and you will be surprised at how happier and joyful you will be in life.

  1. Thank you for coming to my blog. Tell you the truth, US team is one of my favorite teams and
and I agree with you that it was just a bad day for American girls. I believe they will do
much better next time. It was just a nightmare and they will soon recover from it.

    Man! Quote of the day!

If it is meant to be, it’s up to me!

I agree 100% and i am always telling my son, we are always going to have to do things that hurt, are boring, are slow, are whatever!

Fact is, they have to be done, lets just do it!
