Living By Your Promises

Filed under: Personal Development, Empowerment — Herman Najoli @ 6:24 am

Yesterday I made a promise to a friend that I am in the process of ensuring that I will make good on. I have come to learn that the more seriously we treat our own commitments the more seriously others will treat them. I have also observed in society that it’s easier to not make any promises at all. For many people. the easiest way to enhance their reputation for credibility is to make few promises. It takes a special kind of person to take the more difficult step of making promises and keeping those promises.

When you make a promise, it doesn’t matter whether it’s important or unimportant, you must find a way to keep that promise. A huge chunk of your success in life depends on how well you keep your promises. Yes it’s easier to make it in life without ever making any promises to anyone but if you want to make a significant mark, you will have to make some promises at one time or another. You become a more credible and believable person when you are able to make solid commitments and promises and fulfill them.

The key to strengthening this area of your life is to start with small promises that you can fulfill easily. As time goes on you will discover that as you become more successful in fulfilling the smaller promises, you gain tremendous capacity for making and fulfilling bigger promises. Learn to live by your promises and you will be surprised at the difference it will make in your life.
